Upskill with a Short Course Series on Introduction to Health Economic Evaluation and Modelling
Join Macquarie University’s Centre for the Health Economy (MUCHE) this April for an exclusive three-day short course series covering the fundamentals of health economic evaluation and modelling techniques. Designed for professionals in the health, industry, government, academic and not-for-profit sectors, this program is ideal for non-economists or early-career health economists looking to strengthen their skills.
Day 1 (29 April) focuses on exploring key concepts, including cost-effectiveness analysis, quality adjusted life years (QALY), incremental cost-effectiveness ratios (ICERs), and handling uncertainty. The course is delivered through case studies, practical exercises, and led by experienced health economists, Associate Professor Bonny Parkinson, Dr Smriti Raichand and Alicia Norman from MUCHE.
Days 2 and 3 (30 April & 1 May) are dedicated to health economic modelling, led by internationally recognised health economist Associate Professor Mike Paulden. Participants will construct state-transition models, explore long-term cost-effectiveness analysis, and learn to conduct sensitivity analyses using cutting-edge tools such as Excel, R, Python and Julia.
You can choose to attend Day 1, Days 2 & 3, or all three days. Prices start at $550 (inc. GST). Don’t miss this opportunity to enhance your expertise in health economics!
